“SOUPER” BOWL SUNDAY UPDATE!
As you know, the “Souper Bowl of Caring” event is a national youth-led ecumenical crusade against hunger that is transforming the Super Bowl weekend into the nation’s largest time of giving and serving. Participating congregations collect money and food on or near Super Bowl weekend for a hunger relief organization in their community.
Many groups participating in our area this year saw low attendance at their services this weekend due to poor weather conditions. Some services were even cancelled! If your congregation is among those affected by low attendance, we would like to ask you to consider offering another opportunity to donate during your services this weekend (February 11th and 12th). The Super Bowl is over but it isn’t too late to help us score a victory in the fight against hunger!
Your support is especially important this year as we are being asked to serve more people than ever before. When your collection is complete, please report your total at www.superbowl.org so we can all celebrate the impact of people working together in communities across the nation.
THANK YOU! And God Bless you for your generosity and ongoing support!
Help Matt Talbot “TACKLE HUNGER”! !
Souper Bowl of Caring is a national movement of youth working to fight hunger and poverty in their own communities around the time of the Super Bowl football game. Participation is simple. In the weeks leading up to or on Super Bowl Sunday, young people take up a collection (many use a soup pot), asking for one dollar or one item of food for people in need.
They give 100% of their donation directly to the local hunger-relief charity of their choice. Visit www.souperbowl.org to learn more about this amazing national movement. We would love to see the number of local churches participating on behalf of MTKO grow even higher this year."
