A Record Year for the 15th Annual Huskers Helping the Homeless!
On Saturday, October 8, 2011, over 500 youth and adults volunteered before the Nebraska vs. Ohio State football game to raise $31,000 in support of Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach’s (MTKO) hunger relief and homeless prevention services! MTKO volunteers accepted monetary donations in the downtown area as well as at the “Big Red Husker Express” bus stops at SouthPointe Pavilions, Westfield Gateway Mall, and Southeast Community College.
“We are so grateful for the generous support of the community. And a big thanks to all our volunteers who accepted donations on behalf of Matt Talbot on game day. We couldn’t have done it without them!” said Susanne Blue, Executive Director of Matt Talbot.

“The fund raising efforts of our local businesses and community volunteers for our annual Huskers Helping the Homeless event have been amazing,” said Blue. “We had more volunteers, more sponsors, and raised more money than any other year in the history of this event. It is wonderful to see so many students, families, and people of all ages contributing their time and energy to this annual event. We couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome.”
