Feeding the Soul of the City, 2008
On Thursday, March 13th, 2008 Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach will honor Ruth McKinstry, longtime volunteer & Union College's Nursing and Physician Assistant Program with the prestigious Compassion In Action Award at our 3rd annual benefit dinner, Feeding the Soul of the City! Ms. McKinstry has volunteered with us for over 15 years initially recruiting & coordinating volunteers when our agency was founded. She continues to help nearly every weekend! Union College Nursing & Physician Assistant Program has been providing foot care to the homeless for nearly 20 years. Throughout the school year they provide foot clinics every three weeks at Matt Talbot and assist in providing new shoes & socks to hundreds of homeless and near homeless individuals.
Scott Young, Executive Director of the Food Bank of Lincoln will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the event. Live music and an inspirational video will accompany a wonderful meal at Lincoln's Embassy Suites. Matt Talbot Board member, Reverend Jim Keck is our keynote speaker.
